“For all your real estate needs”.?This was the slogan we decided sounded the “most professional” for our very first *cringe* bus bench ad.???

What we were trying to do was to send a message that we would be willing to work with anyone and everyone.??

Now, I see that this was coming from a scarcity mindset- a fear of turning someone away, even someone who was the wrong fit.??

And guess who we got? Clients that were the wrong fit.?Clients whose values were out of alignment with ours.?Clients who were looking for “generalists”.?

If you’re facing a life-threatening illness, would you turn to a generalist or a specialist???

How is real estate any different??Isn’t buying or selling a home important too? Would you want a generalist who works from Hamilton to Whitby and everywhere in between? Or a specialist who remembers how many Offers were on your home originally when you bought it years ago ( with the dingy carpet and worn-out kitchen too).??

Now, years later I know the power of specialization:?

Of specializing in certain areas.

In certain types of properties.

With specific clients with a certain set of needs and requirements.?

Now we work with those who are the right fit- clients who we know we can serve to the highest standards.??

We also know how important it is to help them find the right fit if that isn’t us and we’re able to do that through our relationships with our referral partners.?
