Never tried anything new!!!!

Never tried anything new!!!!

The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.

- Lao Tzu

We often feel overwhelmed when we are trying something new in our life and if just thinking makes us uncomfortable we usually leave it then and there itself. We usually want to be left to the place where we don't want to change the surroundings or situation or maybe ourselves.

We often don't take time out of our regular schedules to learn new things, get some new experience or talk to some stranger. And Of course! we have reasons,

I am too busy... ,

I am fine with I have.... ,

What benefit it would give...... ,

Why I should talk.....,

I have a fixed routine.....,

I dont like ....,

I have my expertise in....,

I am married... ,

I have baby.....,

I have family....... ,

I need to buy this.... to start...

I have already tried.....

College days are over...

We are mature...

and the list goes on and on

The most crucial thing you can do, in my opinion, is to create opportunities for yourself rather than just take advantage of them when they arise. Consider the activities on your "bucket list" that you've always wanted to try. You can continue to improve your life as long as you keep trying out new endeavors and pursuits.

You can only develop and find new interests and pastimes if you give them a chance. But whatever the outcome, accept it and go on. If you attempt something and it turns out to not be your thing, that's cool. You at least gave it a try. There is no need to continue doing it. Simply move on to the next thing that grabs your attention.

A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new. – Albert Einstein

We have already been doing what's necessary financially and with stability, but there will be a time when you have achieved those, and then what?? Most people will consider that comfort as a top priority instead something new.

Trying something new does not promote to go physically new things, it relates to anything. There might be instances in childhood where you loved something so much but never got the chance to pursue it. If not this time and then when?

You can only develop and find new interests and pastimes if you give them a chance. But whatever the outcome, accept it and go on. If you attempt something and it turns out to not be your thing, that's cool. You at least gave it a try. There is no need to continue doing it. Simply move on to the next thing that grabs your attention.

While this does not require you to stop what you are doing, have you looked around to see how others are carrying out your task and how you may improve upon it? What if you could crawl very well but be unable to walk? Would it be worthwhile to switch up your movement style, even if it meant making many mistakes while figuring out the new system?

I remember an instance of my college days when auditions for Mr fresher were going on, and I being shy want to take part but never thought of going to stage and singing in front of everyone. In my mind, I was thinking this will never come back please grab this. After everyone was done and the senior asked if anyone else wanted I raised my hand. And I sang in front of everyone, that was terrifying but amazing. Then an again second round of auditions happened a few days after that and they called me to sing, of course, I messed up. But after this, my confidence was boosted, and never ever I had a stage fear. ( heart beats fast but that I can tolerate whenever on stage)

Undoubtedly, it can be intimidating to try new activities. We experience difficult-to-explain anxiety when faced with the unfamiliar. When we step outside of our comfort zone, we become exposed and have a flood of questions racing through our minds.

Here are a few ideas to get you thinking- A starting point.

- Take up and perfect a pastime or skill you've always wanted to do but have never had time for. Examples include sewing, woodworking, or a project requiring restoration (furniture, car or motorcycle)

- Discover a new language.

- Visit a place you've never gone.

- Go camping and spend the night under the stars.

- Participate in community service or work at a nearby hospital

- Eat a New Food

- You can go further and investigate different kinds of movies and literature, too.

- Attend a new and distinct exercise class, such as spin, kickboxing, boxing, Pilates, or cross-fit.

- Go solo trip/ride motorcycle

“I realized something on the ride. I realized if I wait until I’m not scared to try new things, then I’ll never get to try them at all.”

- Marie Sexton.
