Ready to rethink business growth?

At?The?Rethink?Collective, we work with owners, CEOs and leadership teams to grow their organisations. For us, growth isn’t just about improving performance or expansion, because achieving these aims can only happen when everyone involved has clarity and confidence.

We’re looking to build a vibrant community of people, who want to take their business to the next level; we’d love it if you joined us…

We advocate that ambitious founders/CEOs/MDs should adopt radical leadership to transform their businesses in line with their ideals. This article will cover one of the key aspects of radical leadership and how it can be practically realised…

?

Reframe – Workload structure

Whether you work in a product or service industry, your ultimate profitability and reputation are directly correlated to how well your ‘weakest’ operations or operators perform.

The top level of any organisation generally have the chance to influence their own performance, since they decide their tasks and schedules. The middle layer can become overwhelmed, as they receive work from both directions, particularly if their junior colleagues aren’t confident. The lower level needs opportunities, incentives, and most importantly training to produce their best work.

Invest in training the most junior (or least experienced 20%) of your business. This should improve your operations and reduce the potential of overwhelm within your organisational structure

Rethink – You’ve got this

?

Whilst you might occasionally learn something for the first time, when you become more experienced it’s more a case of improvement than epiphany. The mindset with which you approach a task can dictate personal performance more than the practical skills you have.

This is why coaching is increasingly viewed as a valuable investment by progressive companies, rather than an unnecessary expense. In sports, daily life, or the workplace, our capacity to replace negative thoughts with positive affirmations allows us to perform at, or even above, our ability.

Find a way to spread confidence in your business…

?

Refocus – Practice in private, perform in public

?

Formula One drivers spend countless hours on circuits or practising in simulators, where the hard work is done before the race starts.

I am surprised that businesses don’t adopt simulations to enhance their team performance. Why wouldn’t you have the least experienced people learn in a contained, no-risks environment first, as oppose to on the job? Surely, it is more cost-effective and better for self-confidence for errors to be made away from clients.

A key part of training is providing the right environment for people to learn. Dumping a load of information on someone is not the same as teaching. Create an environment where people can thrive, for their benefit and ultimately for a better business.

Great point about investing in junior staff, In addition to helping them in life and with their current position, when they know you care they are more committed and less stressed which improves the culture for everyone. Plus, you are setting them up for continued success within the company and beyond. I love your take on the value of coaching, too. It's a strategic business investment that pays for itself multiple times over.
