As a kid, I was never really bothered with the 'whys.' Things were as they were in my childhood experience. It was as if I had this built-in hesitation to ask questions, as if I thought the world might implode if I dared to utter a simple 'why.'

Questions like 'why is the sky blue?' Or: 'why are apples green?' where simply not part of my mental toolkit. At an older age, I realize my dad (or mum) would not have known the answer himself.

If only I could go back and tell that little version of me, 'Just ask, kiddo. You'll be amazed at what you'll find out.'
