Never miss a goal again!!

Just to clarify, I’m not referring to football. Instead, I am referring to the goals we set ourselves in life.

There are many reasons why hitting a goal can be difficult, and sometimes life can throw up obstacles that get in the way. However, often, I find that the reasons people don’t succeed with their goals are as follows:

1.??????It wasn’t the right goal in the first place. Away from motivated goals just don’t hold the same power as toward goals. When I coach my clients, I always ask that their goal is positively stated towards what they want to achieve.

2.??????It does not align with their values. We often set goals because we feel it is the most appropriate thing to do. But if your goal is not supported by your values and beliefs, then subconsciously we end up sabotaging ourselves.

3.??????The goal is not specific enough. Just saying I want to ‘lose weight by time I go on holiday” or “I want to get promoted” is not enough. If you haven’t heard of SMART goal setting – then get familiar with it now – it is a game changer!!

4.??????They haven’t got other people on board with their goals. This is important whether you are losing weight or going for a promotion. Do you have the right support around you to help you achieve your goal?

5.??????The goal is too big. Huge goals are insurmountable. Breaking a big goal down into smaller achievable goals, will help you work towards the bigger one, and will help you stay motivated as you achieve each milestone.
