Never measuring up — that is the pain of growing up in a storied family. It’s true for those who grew up with enormous wealth; it’s also true for those with parents of legendary reputations. One of my hopes for this book is to offer readers a glimpse into the challenges of earning external recognition, a form of legitimacy, within the land of giants.

Even more important, I want to explore the internal struggle to answer the question, “Who am I?” Many who would be classified as part of the Rising generation inevitably find themselves on a personal quest for legitimacy. For many, it is an active pursuit. While there is no formula for accomplishing legitimacy within one’s tribe (extended family) or a clear rite of passage to help those growing up feel that they have made it, this book will illuminate the path. The stories in this book come from a global study of the Rising generation and their journey to find legitimacy
