NEVER LET THE SCARCITY MINDSET: LIFE LESSONS AS I TURN 30

In this newsletter, I am sharing 6 life lessons as I turn 30.

If there is something that has inspired this post, it is the overarching principle that there is no lack.

I will not bore you, so I will quickly enter this post.

1. Help is in asking. When I moved to Chicago, with only $100, which was given to me by Ayobami, a fellow graduate student at the University of Alabama. I was broke after my book launch, so $100 was helpful.

2. Help is not race. During my first three months in Chicago, I could not afford to rent my own apartment; I was waiting for my work authorization card. I had help from three American citizens; they didn't know me but gave me their homes. Natalie, Natasha, and Racheal. Open your mind; there is help near you.

3. Follow your heart, not your head.

When I was coming to CHI town, I had doubts; but you see, I am a stubborn goal getter; so I followed my heart, even though logically, it was a wrong move to make. I followed my heart and got on the Greyhound bus (lol), and my faith got me help until I got my job- which I applied to a month before my graduation- and this job awaited me even after arriving in Chicago. Following my heart, I manifested an old man, Sid Colton, who helped me move around during the first three months of arriving in Chicago. If you live by a divine principle, you will forever follow your intuition. You will forever follow your heart, not your head.

4. Disappointments are blessings.

I moved to Chi-town to start my graduate program(and the third Master's in a roll) at the Crown school, but funding wasn't enough for me to attend; my application was late, and I didn't get to apply to external aids. So, I opted to work with my EAD card. I didn't want this option because what I was used to was going to graduate school full-time all my life.

5. Remain flexible always. When you are flexible, you tell God that whatever comes my way, I trust you, Lord. You enjoy the peace and also are able to open your eyes to see the many blessings you may never see if you are closed-minded. Also, never have a deadline for anything. Deadlines are often imposed on us, due to external expectations; "Oh, BM, when are your kids moving with you; oh when are you going to start dating someone else, so what next with your sexual life, oh, are you still getting a PHD?" All these expectations are great, but I want you to enjoy every moment, so you do not feel pressured to tick goals for the sake of ticking them. Do you understand me?

For instance, I had 6 goals at the beginning of 2023. Get hitched, make 180 on the LSAT, have 10,000 followers on all platforms, sell 10k copies of my book, and host in-person events in selected countries. I had a written plan of how these goals will manifest, but you know what I realized? These things don't have to happen exactly how I pictured it; I realized all I needed to do was make an effort and trust the universe to make things happen. Yes, it was difficult for me to see the need to be flexible, but being flexible has helped me take care of the complex parts of all my manifestations.

When I allowed God to lead and only took specific actions, I cared for the most challenging parts of my manifestations/goals this year.

These are my guiding principles as I enter this new year, and I hope these nuggets open your eyes to great possibilities.

6. Remain a child always. Children have crazy faith, and I want you to have the same kind of faith. When you remain a child, you will only go for what you desire and not what is available. It was a crazy decision for me to walk away from my job and begin running a business full-time in the United States after only arriving a few months ago.

I need to stop writing. I genuinely hope that something in this piece inspires you to live life truly, deeply, and meaningfully as a child would.
