It never hurts to try? Yeah, it does.

1:03am Saturday morning and I am taking a quick look at LinkedIn, largely because if I read one more peer reviewed article in the next 10 years it'll be too soon. This is my time to study - when my wife and kids are fast asleep and the dog is looking through the window wondering why I'm still up.

Few years ago now I decided that University might be worth a shot, so I dived in and came out with an undergrad Psychology degree. This time around it's postgrad HR and I surely hope there is something - even just one little bit - that makes all of this worthwhile and gives me that light bulb moment somewhere down the track.

I see so many uplifting, inspiring things on LinkedIn, it's like Facebook but for normal people, and while they're all very positive and you feel great for a bit afterwards, for me it is the 1:03ams that actually make the difference. Its a hard slog, especially knowing I'll be back up at 6am when the kids wake up with absolutely no relenting on me because I've had a late one, but this is where it counts. This is me having a go and trying to better myself and hoping that maybe one day I can inspire or support or encourage someone else who's crazy enough to try it. It never hurts to try - it does, and if it doesn't, maybe try a little harder.
