Never give up, Never give in
Hello - I am back from a short break and despite a terrible journey back to the UK (over 24 hour delay), summer has been kind to me - I hope it has been good to you too.
This is The?Art?of?The?Impossible - my weekly newsletter where I unearth five pieces?of?content which I hope will both inspire?and?embolden you.
PODCAST
Yesterday, I released the final episode in Series 10 and it is with the fantastic Simon Peyton Jones - a hugely impactful Computer Scientist who worked at Microsoft Research Cambridge for 20+ years and is now Engineering Fellow at Epic Games . He is also the co-creator of Haskell programming language and the Glasgow Haskell Compiler.

INTERVIEW
Who remembers the faithful Nokia 3310?
The Nokia 3310 was announced twenty three years ago today and a few years ago (for my first book), I was lucky enough to interview Christian Kraft about his work on it and other popular Nokia devices.
Innovations are a balance between what is needed and what is possible.

I also wanted to give a quick shout out to Sampriti Bhattacharyya who is doing amazing work with her company Navier (America's first fully electric hydrofoil boat)- you can watch more below and on Nas Daily from this week here. I had the good fortune of interviewing her for Female Innovators at Work and I am hoping to get her on the podcast very soon!

BOOK
Not a book recommendation this week (although it could be) - the wonderful Stephen Wolfram has written a piece on Ed Fredkin Remembering the Improbable Life of Ed Fredkin (1934–2023) and His World of Ideas and Stories.
Despite not graduating from college, Ed became a Professor at 美国麻省理工学院 and was a pioneer in the field of artificial intelligence.
Read the full piece here.
FILM
There is a lot of commonality between founders and elite athletes and that is why I share inspiring films such as Citizen Ashe - an elegant and poignant documentary that charts tennis player's Arthur Ashe’s personal journey from Grand Slam champion to global activist despite all the adversity he faced.
Truly inspiring man and story.
Watch the film from Dogwoof Productions here.
As always, thank you for reading?the?newsletter?and?for listening to?the?podcast, and?if you enjoy them, please do share with your network - my goal is to have these stories reach as many as possible so that others can be inspired too.
