Never Forget

September 11, 2001 will forever mark a day in history for the United States of America. On this day, over 3,000 people lost their lives in a horrific act by terrorists using commercial airliners to cause destruction of two of the World Trade Center towers, a partial collapse of the Pentagon and a fourth plane that crashed into a rural field in Pennsylvania.

Today, I was honored to attend the Palm Harbor 9/11 Memorial Event at Curlew Hills Memory Gardens. Fox 13 Anchor, Mark Wilson was the MC for this annual event to memorialize those lives lost 18 years ago. Keynote Speaker, Patrick Anderson was in Tower 3 of the WTC when the first plane struck. Not knowing what was going on, he grabbed his belongings and ran. He was aided by 3 NYC Firefighters who helped him and others find their way out of the building. Those 3 NYC FF's went back in to help others and none made it out alive. Patrick's story was followed by the playing of "Echo Taps" and a raising and lowering of the flag as well as flyovers by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Coast Guard.
