Never Fails // Lamentations 3:22

By Mark Jordan

Today’s verse is so important for us to remember. The Book of Lamentations was written by the Prophet Jeremiah and catalogues his “laments” surrounding the fall of Jerusalem. Today’s verse served as a reminder about the waywardness that led to God removing His hand of protection. In the midst of it, though, God reminded Jeremiah that the calamity wasn’t permanent. In fact, the verse that precedes the one for today’s reading is a call to hope, because God’s mercy and compassion renews every single day. I want to close with verses 25-26 from this same chapter, “The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.” May this bring you some peace as you wait, seek, and hope for God’s presence to manifest in your life. It’s already there and is renewed daily. True, we might face calamity, but God’s very nature is love. We read later in 1 Corinthians 13:8 that love never fails; therefore, we can deduce that God never fails! He is faithful to the very end. So trust the Lord and let Him be the place and purpose for the hope of your life!
