A lot of my clients come to me with a never ending list of things they need to do or should be doing.
Their brain is on overdrive, looking for (and finding) alllllllllll the problems to be solved.
But when we're in this anxious state, our brain identifies all the problems but doesn't know what to do next. Its default answer becomes "I don't know" or "I don't know how."
We spin in this indecisive, overwhelmed state. Which makes it really hard to get anything done.
Have you been there? Yeah, me too.
So what's the easiest way to stop the viscous cycle?
???????? ??????!
When we make ourselves have fun and get out of our heads for a few minutes, the good chemicals (for example, neurotransmitters like serotonin) get released in our brain.
We stop the cycle of overwhelm and anxiety and it gives our brain a chance to breathe. When we're out of "everything needs to be fixed" mode, we can actually get creative and think of potential solutions.
Because when everything is a problem to be solved, we can't solve any of the problems. We just keep identifying new ones.
So what's your favorite way to have fun?
When I let go of all the problems today, I came up with a creative solution to one of my problems while I was making guacamole! Instead of feeling like I'm being taken advantage of in one of my volunteer positions, now I know how I want to handle it - I have a game plan.
I wonder, what might open up for you when you let go and have fun?
