NEVER DOUBT YOUR BELIEF..IT WILL HAPPEN!!!!
Whatever The Mind Can Conceive And Believe, The Mind Can Achieve. Napoleon Hill really is a genius isn't he? He changed the world with his book “Think And Grow Rich“, one of the greatest entrepreneurship books ever made. ... “ Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve
Whatever your mind can conceive and believe the mind can achieve regardless of how many times you may have failed in the past.”
It’s one of the most famous inspirational quotes on the power of positive thinking. Below is the video where he spoke those exact words and it includes many of his insights on the power of positive thinking.Napoleon Hill is arguably best remembered for his famous book “Think and Grow Rich.” It was first published in 1937 during the Great Depression and it’s reported that by the time of his death in 1970 more than 20 million copies had been sold. For more historical information on the book refer to Wikipedia, Think and Grow Rich. As can be heard on the above video, Napoleon Hill learned many things from famous billionaire Andrew Carnegie who shared a lot of his wisdom with Hill.
The reason I decided to write a post about this famous inspirational quote is that many people mistakenly believe that you just need to “think and grow rich” as per the title of his book. What they forget about, or are not aware of, is that Hill said: “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe the mind can achieve.”
It’s not only about thinking, it’s about believing. And, this is where so many people get it wrong. If you don’t believe you can achieve something your negative thoughts will make sure you don’t achieve it. In fact, if you’re like the average person chances are you won’t even try something new if you think you won’t be successful.
In recent years the “Law of Attraction” has become a catch phrase in many households and new self help gurus have been popping up all over the place like wild mushrooms, telling people how they can get what they want if they can just visualize it and feel it. They often tell people not to worry about the size of the thing they want since size does not matter to the Universe… And, this is where they get it wrong. Size may not matter to the Universe but it matters to me and you!
Related: Napoleon Hill – The Secret and MUCH More!I can spend the whole year trying to attract a new Ferrari but unless I believe that it’s possible I am not going to succeed. I may say positive affirmations to the effect that I already own the car. I may cut out pictures of the car and stick them on my wall. I may visualize how I am driving the car on the way to visit my girlfriend. I may experience feelings of joy and happiness when thinking about the car. I may tell myself that the car is already mine and I am just waiting for the Universe to deliver it. But, do I really believe it?
You see, it’s often easy to believe something with your conscious mind. You want to believe it. But, unless you believe it with your unconscious mind as well, you are not really believing it. The problem is that in most cases we have no idea when our conscious mind and unconscious mind is not in tune with each other. The best way of knowing that they are not in tune is when we don’t get what we want.
Your conscious mind may want to think that you already own a Ferrari and that you are just waiting for the Universe to manifest the car, while your unconscious mind believes that you will never own a Ferrari and that you should rather focus on getting a good used Toyota Celica. So, size matters to your unconscious mind!
The main thing that stands in your way of getting what your conscious mind wants is your limiting beliefs. And, unless you can address your limiting beliefs your unconscious mind will veto what your conscious mind would like to believe.
One good way of getting in touch with your limiting beliefs is to take a blank piece of paper and draw a line down the center of the page. On the left side of the page write down as many reasons as you can think why that Ferrari you want is already yours, and on the right side of the page write down as many reasons as possible why you won’t be driving that Ferrari any time soon. The reasons on the right side of the page are your limiting beliefs and unless you are able to address them you are going to find it very hard to manifest a new Ferrari.
Please note that limiting beliefs are, more often than not, not valid reasons why you can’t get what you want. We all have our own set of limiting beliefs and in most cases these limiting beliefs were transferred to us by our parents, our teachers and we have been carrying them with us for years without even knowing it.
Here is one of my own limiting beliefs that I got as a child from my father: “It is not for us.” He often use to say this when I remarked about the things other people have than we don’t have. Is it an absolute truth? No! But, only when I realized that I can also have a nice car and a huge house, and that I don’t have to settle for less because of who I am did I manage to dissolve this limiting belief that I carried with me from my early childhood.
As Napoleon Hill said, what your mind can conceive and believe it can achieve. Take note of your limiting beliefs and see them for what they are. Once you can overcome your limiting beliefs your conscious mind and your unconscious mind can be in tune and you can achieve that which you can conceive and believe.
Steps to Conquering Anything You Set Your Mind To
There are things I’m proud of have achieved in my life and there are things I have failed to achieve. However, I have learned that to accomplish something big and rewarding, there are 10 key rules I need to stick by in order to guarantee success.
Are you ready? I have simplified these rules into the list below.
__
Define what you’d like to achieve and how badly you want it.
The clearer and more definite idea you have of this, the better. Write it down. Put it on your bedroom wall or work desk. Make it a clear goal that you want to achieve by a definite timeline.
__
Determine whether you want it bad enough.
If your goal is big and highly challenging, you have to want the goal bad enough in order to achieve it. Because the road to success is not easy - there will be obstacles - you will likely want to give up. So in order for you to make it through, you have to want it so badly that you’re willing to sacrifice your time and sweat to work hard.
__
Define the reward - what you will get once the goal is achieved.
Obviously if you want to achieve something, there is an incentive behind that achievement. Whether it to reach your fullest potential and be recognized for your work, to get a promotion, or anything else that you dream of. Will you make yourself and your parents proud? Will you get to travel the world? Will you get to meet certain someone? Will you get to buy your loved one a new car? Will you get to pay off your mortgage?
Remember that the real incentive behind all the tangible assets is actually feelings and emotions. You want to feel good. You want to experience the positive emotion - the high, the euphoria, the sense of achievement and fulfillment. Buying your loved one a gift makes you feel happy because you want to see her/him happy. Being able to pay off your mortgage, you will feel proud of yourself. Making your parents proud is probably one of the deepest and most satisfying kinds of happiness ever.
__
Visualize yourself achieving the goal and enjoying the reward
Define exactly what will happen when you finally achieve that goal. How would you feel when your dreams actually come true? What will happen?
How will it make you feel?
The more you can imagine and visualize the emotional response and reaction you will get and create that mental image in your head and your mind, the easier it will become to achieve that goal. Visualize it daily and in details if you can. Maybe when you’re in the shower or in your bedroom before bed.
Please remember to eliminate all self-doubt. Don’t ever doubt yourself - not even just a little bit. Even if it happens, try to brush it off. You can tell your mind once or twice that failure is possible and that you will have to be resilient and bounce back if that happens, however, never dwell on that thought. Never think about the possible failure in a repetitive manner. Don’t let any doubt get into your subconscious.
__
Think about the strategy of how you can achieve your goal.
What are the action plans you need to take? What do you need to do? What are the challenges you will face? What are the possible outcomes - A, B, C, D? The better you are at this, the more chance you have at achieving your goal. If you feel like you’re competing with a lot of people who might be stronger and better than you in this area, then take in account your strengths and their weaknesses. What route do you think your competitors are likely going to take? How can you leverage off your strengths and talents in a way that other people can’t easily replicate or do it better than you? What do you have that they don’t?
If you find yourself lacking in certain areas needed to achieve this goal, then dedicate some time to sharpen some skills. This might take a while but you will never go anywhere unless you get started. Everyone’s got to start somewhere.
__
Write down a to-do list and tick it off one by one.
Once you have written down a strategy of how you’re going to achieve the goal, write down each action plan. What do you need to do first, second, and third? What are the most important tasks? What are the most urgent tasks? Prioritize them. Put them in order in a timely manner so you can focus on one task at a time.
__
Focus on each step of the plan.
Be focused and really focused. Sometimes we get too excited about the future and the big picture that we forget to focus on the present and what we have to do NOW! Focus on moving from where you are now to the next step only. Make sure you do it right. Eliminate all distractions - whether that maybe the friends who try to get you to go out, social media, mobile phone, TV, or music.
The key to accomplishing a goal is to focus - from one task to the next, don’t lose your momentum. If you find yourself struggling to stick through to a goal, use our Change a Habit in 30 Days printable as a tool to achieve a goal. Focus on one day at a time and the next thing you know you’ve made it to 30 days!
Get into the flow. Be so focused that you feel like you’ve lost track of time.
__
Persevere & Be Consistent.
Most of the time we don’t accomplish something because we give up too soon. The minute we feel like things are too hard, we give up because we feel like the goal is not worth fighting for anymore. This is why we said that if you want to accomplish something big and rewarding, you have to make sure you want it badly enough. Because only those who persevere will make it through. You might fail over and over. The key to this is to not lose hope and faith in yourself, become resilient, and get back up again doing things more intelligently than last time.
The man who moves a mountain begins carrying away small stones.
- Confucius
Sometimes people think that they can offset inconsistency with one big payoff. For example, a quick detox or a hardcore workout session is not going to help fix your health when you have been having poor diet for several months or years. If you want to achieve a goal, you have to consistently work toward it. You can’t leave it off and pick it up again when you feel like it.
It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives. It’s what we do consistently.
- Tony Robbins
Like the rabbit and the turtle story, the turtle wins in the end because even though he may move at a slower pace, he never stops moving. He is consistently moving forward.

Learn from the expert and the experienced.
There are always people who are better than us. There are always those who have been through what we are going through. Learning from them is the easiest way to find short-cuts and tips instead of trying them ourselves and stumbling around trials and errors.
The Internet and social media are powerful tools to use to connect and find people. Use them to your own advantage. Invite the expert and the experienced out for a coffee or a lunch with you. Ask them to be your mentor. Learn from their path but never forget to pave your own path.
People write books to share experience and knowledge. So why don’t you read more about other people’s experiences and the industry. The more you know, the easier it becomes for you and the more likely you are going to succeed.
__
Give it all you’ve got. Work hard.
You might say that these are 10 easy steps... why do most of us fail to achieve what we want? Well, because most of us lose focus. When we fail to give it all we’ve got, it’s because we get distracted. When we get distracted, we already lose a quarter or half of the time we have. We don’t work hard enough. We don’t give it all we’ve got.
__
If you believe that you do all of these 10 steps and still don’t achieve your goal, you’re probably not being honest with yourself. Because if you are, you’ll realize that you have failed one or more of these points. These 10 steps seem simple, however, the trick is to consistently follow through and focus which is a weakness among us all.
What is the meaning of “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”
Mind is the greatest mystery of all. It keeps amazing everyone. It could be your greatest enemy or your greatest friend. If your mind is set on something and believes that it can be done then it is not impossible to achieve.
Success is 80% psychological and 20% fundamental. This means that if you have set your mind at something, there is just a remote chance that you will fail. In fact, you can be sure of succeeding. All you need to do is remove the barriers that are on your minds, the barriers that have been set during different phases of life and due to different events. Liberate your mind and let it take the lead. Napoleon Hill has rightly said that mind is so powerful that whatever it conceives and believes, it can also achieve it. That is the magic of the mind.
Can achievement be broken down into steps? It isn’t always that clean and easy, but those who achieve great things usually go through much of the same process, with many of the items listed below as part of that process. So if you have been struggling with achievement, look through the following. Begin to apply them and you will be on the road to achieving your dream.
- Step 1: Dream it. Everything begins in the heart and mind. ...
- Step 2: Believe it. Yes, your dream needs to be big. ...
- Step 3: See it. The great achievers have a habit. ...
- Step 4: Tell it. One reason many dreams never go anywhere is because the dreamer keeps it all to himself. ...
- Step 5: Plan it. ...
- Step 6: Work it. ...
- Step 7: Enjoy it.
Step 1: Dream it.
Everything begins in the heart and mind. Every great achievement began in the mind of one person. They dared to dream, to believe that it was possible. Take some time to allow yourself to ask “What if?” Think big. Don’t let negative thinking discourage you. You want to be a “dreamer.” Dream of the possibilities for yourself, your family and for others. If you had a dream that you let grow cold, re-ignite the dream! Fan the flames. Life is too short to let it go.
Step 2: Believe it.
Yes, your dream needs to be big. It needs to be something that is seemingly beyond your capabilities. But it also must be believable. You must be able to say that if certain things take place, if others help, if you work hard enough, though it is a big dream, it can still be done. Good example: A person with no college education can dream that he will build a $50 million-a-year company. That is big, but believable. Bad example: That a 90-year-old woman with arthritis will someday run a marathon in under three hours. It is big all right, but also impossible. She should instead focus on building a $50 million-a-year business! And she better get a move on!
Step 3: See it.
The great achievers have a habit. They “see” things. They picture themselves walking around their CEO office in their new $25 million corporate headquarters, even while they are sitting on a folding chair in their garage “headquarters.” Great free-throw shooters in the NBA picture the ball going through the basket. PGA golfers picture the ball going straight down the fairway. World-class speakers picture themselves speaking with energy and emotion. All of this grooms the mind to control the body to carry out the dream.
Step 4: Tell it.
One reason many dreams never go anywhere is because the dreamer keeps it all to himself. It is a quiet dream that only lives inside of his mind. The one who wants to achieve their dream must tell that dream to many people. One reason: As we continually say it, we begin to believe it more and more. If we are talking about it then it must be possible. Another reason: It holds us accountable. When we have told others, it spurs us on to actually doing it so we don’t look foolish.
Step 5: Plan it.
Every dream must take the form of a plan. The old saying that you “get what you plan for” is so true. Your dream won’t just happen. You need to sit down, on a regular basis, and plan out your strategy for achieving the dream. Think through all of the details. Break the whole plan down into small, workable parts. Then set a time frame for accomplishing each task on your “dream plan.”
Step 6: Work it.
Boy, wouldn’t life be grand if we could quit before this one! Unfortunately the successful are usually the hardest workers. While the rest of the world is sitting on their sofas watching reruns of Gilligan's Island, achievers are working on their goal—achieving their dream. I have an equation that I work with: Your short-term tasks, multiplied by time, equal your long-term accomplishments. If you work on it each day, eventually you will achieve your dream. War and Peace was written, in longhand, page by page.
Step 7: Enjoy it.
When you have reached your goal and you are living your dream, be sure to enjoy it. In fact, enjoy the trip, too. Give yourself some rewards along the way. Give yourself a huge reward when you get there. Help others enjoy it. Be gracious and generous. Use your dream to better others. Then go back to No. 1. And dream a little bigger this time!
Tips to Achieve Anything You Want in Life
Focus on commitment, not motivation.
Just how committed are you to your goal? How important is it for you, and what are you willing to sacrifice in order to achieve it? If you find yourself fully committed, motivation will follow.
- Here’s how to focus on commitment.
Seek knowledge, not results.
If you focus on the excitement of discovery, improving, exploring and experimenting, your motivation will always be fueled. If you focus only on results, your motivation will be like weather—it will die the minute you hit a storm. So the key is to focus on the journey, not the destination. Keep thinking about what you are learning along the way and what you can improve.
- Here’s how to seek knowledge.
Make the journey fun.
It’s an awesome game! The minute you make it serious, there’s a big chance it will start carrying a heavy emotional weight and you will lose perspective and become stuck again.
- Here’s how to make the journey fun.
Get rid of stagnating thoughts.
Thoughts influence feelings and feelings determine how you view your work. You have a lot of thoughts in your head, and you always have a choice of which ones to focus on: the ones that will make you emotionally stuck (fears, doubts) or the ones that will move you forward (excitement, experimenting, trying new things, stepping out of your comfort zone).
Use your imagination.
Next step after getting rid of negative thoughts is to use your imagination. When things go well, you are full of positive energy, and when you are experiencing difficulties, you need to be even more energetic. So rename your situation. If you keep repeating I hate my work, guess which feelings those words will evoke? It’s a matter of imagination! You can always find something to learn even from the worst boss in the world at the most boring job. I have a great exercise for you: Just for three days, think and say positive things only. See what happens.
- Here’s how to use your imagination.
Stop being nice to yourself.
Motivation means action and action brings results. Sometimes your actions fail to bring the results you want. So you prefer to be nice to yourself and not put yourself in a difficult situation. You wait for the perfect timing, for an opportunity, while you drive yourself into stagnation and sometimes even into depression. Get out there, challenge yourself, do something that you want to do even if you are afraid.
- Here’s how to stop being nice to yourself.
Get rid of distractions.
Meaningless things and distractions will always be in your way, especially those easy, usual things you would rather do instead of focusing on new challenging and meaningful projects. Learn to focus on what is the most important. Write a list of time-wasters and hold yourself accountable to not do them.
- Here’s how to get rid of distractions.
Don’t rely on others.
You should never expect others to do it for you, not even your partner, friend or boss. They are all busy with their own needs. No one will make you happy or achieve your goals for you. It’s all on you.
- Here’s how to not rely on others.
Plan.
Know your three steps forward. You do not need more. Fill out your weekly calendar, noting when you will do what and how. When-what-how is important to schedule. Review how each day went by what you learned and revise what you could improve.
- Here’s how to plan.
Protect yourself from burnout.
It’s easy to burn out when you are very motivated. Observe yourself to recognize any signs of tiredness and take time to rest. Your body and mind rest when you schedule relaxation and fun time into your weekly calendar. Do diverse tasks, keep switching between something creative and logical, something physical and still, working alone and with a team. Switch locations. Meditate, or just take deep breaths, close your eyes, or focus on one thing for five minutes.
Well, the word actualize means to make real. Specifically, self-actualization is a term used by psychological theorists to describe the process by which a person reaches his full potential. There's a subtle difference between fulfilling dreams and reaching max potential, so you could say actualize your aspirations.
Make a Commitment
Goals require commitment and dedication. There’s no other way around it. If you are struggling with committing to a specific goal, go back and start the process over. You may not have identified the goal just right, or you may be lacking the necessary motivation to see it though.
Keep Track of Your Progress
Just as it’s important to put all of your goals down on paper, it’s equally important to track your progress. You can do this with a goal tracking worksheet, a goal management tool or a method of your own. The key is to regularly check-in on your goal progress and take note of where you are and where you need to go before your next check-in.
Break It Down
It’s good to have big and very ambitious goals, but many times, you can make them more attainable and realistic by breaking them down. A set of five smaller goals that will get you to your ambitious goal can be a lot more manageable and a lot less overwhelming.
Get Help
You may need external support to accomplish your goals, or maybe you are struggling with the commitment factor and need someone to hold you accountable. While your goals may be personal to you, that doesn’t mean you have to do it alone. If you need help, support or just a cheerleader, ask someone your trust.
Be Willing to Revisit and Revise
Your regular goal check-in process is the perfect time to consider if the path you’re taking to accomplish your goals is valid. You may find that you have more clarity after you’ve outlined your goal. It’s okay to make changes and modifications, as long as they support what you set out to do.
Keep Your Eye on the Prize
Thinking about the big picture is important, especially with long-term goals. While there will be times when you’ll be so focused on working to move forward that you may not consider the end result, it’s necessary to take time to think about where you’re going. Envisioning your success can help keep you motivated.
Be Consistent
Consistency and routine can play an important role in reaching your goals. Be consistent when you have progress check-ins, how you track your advancement, and how and when you focus on your goals. The more routine you can make the process, the easier it will be to keep going.
Let Your Goals Grow Up
Life changes and so will your goals. You may have a few long-term goals that span the next few years, but if you consider them set in stone, you may miss out on modifying your plan to fit current business, lifestyle and societal changes. In order to keep your goals relevant and realistic, let them change and grow as you do the same.
Focus on Positive Thinking
As cliché as it may be, positive thinking can empower you to reach success. If you consistently think negatively, you may be sabotaging your entire goal process. Positive thinking and self-affirming mantras really can get you through the most challenging parts of reaching your goals.
Celebrate Every Success
You can’t expect yourself to work steadily toward a goal without any type of reward along the way. Not only is that bad for your morale, but it can diminish the power of the entire process. Take time to celebrate every success for every goal, no matter how big or small. It will build your confidence and commitment and make it easier to keep pushing to reach those large-scale future goals.
What do you do to ensure your own success? Are there certain processes that you use to make it easier to strive for even the most ambitious goals?
