Never Do Anything Half Assed

Today is my big brother's birthday. Why is that so significant on LinkedIn? My brother is the epitome of never doing anything half assed.

From the time that I was a kid, I always looked up to my brother....I mean he is 6 foot 6! I watched as my brother fought to be the best at everything that he ever did. When people say that they have a hero, my brother is mine.

Every time I feel like I lose my steam, I think about what it took for my brother to achieve what he has. I may joke around and call him Doogie Howser, M.D., but he earned the title. I watched him go through many sleepless days and sleepless nights while he was in medical school. I watched him slay at organic chemistry even though he hated every second of it. He taught me that there are things that we have to do that aren't the glitz or the glamour to be respected. He taught me that there is nothing wrong with starting at the bottom, and working your way to the top. He taught me how to do it with tenacity, and with grace. And, I love him for it.

I may not be the biggest or the best recruiter in my industry yet. But, when I become more successful, I will have this man to thank. He taught me to be selfless, empathetic, to have fire in everything that I do.

I used to think that my brother and I were polar opposites. But, we have so many things in common. We care about people. We always try to do the right thing. Our family is paramount, and our work ethic is natural and comes from the heart.

Today, I want to thank him for teaching me to stay humble, to fight to achieve my dreams, to never listen to naysayers and for teaching me to never do anything half assed.
