Never Not Creative in 2020
It's 2020. Yeah I know... a bit late to the party on that one. After a trip to Europe and moving house everything has been a bit hectic. BUT the NNC truck is still rolling and I wanted to share an update and ask a few favours.
1. Mentally-Healthy 2020 survey is open for a few more weeks. We're up to about 1,000 responses but we'd love more. If you haven't already, please complete the survey and also share it on your networks. It's vitally important as the results shape the work we do in the Mentally-Healthy Change Group.
2. Internships. We're working hard with our Internships Change Group behind the scenes to create a minimum standards for internships (launching soon) and templates that businesses and interns can use for shadowing, mentoring and interning. Keep an eye out on here and nevernotcreative.org.
3. Asking For A Friend. An initiative we're launching soon to help anyone ask questions to an industry leader and psychologist in a safe, live, online environment. This is for those questions you might not feel confident to ask at work or to a boss for fear of how you'll be treated. Watch this space!
4. Conversation. I'm keen to drive more regular, meaningful and useful conversation. Our Facebook group is the place for that at the moment, but I'd like to encourage everyone to ask and answer questions and bring up the big subjects that you'd like to discuss with the community. Should we launch a group on Linkedin? I'll always be here with an opinion, but I'd also be interested in hearing from anyone who'd like to help drive conversation in our channels further.
Recently I've been visiting creative businesses to share the mental health research and initiatives that we've been working on. I'd be happy to come in (or video in) and chat to any other teams who are interested in finding out more and adding some fuel to the conversation in the workplace. Thanks to Ragged Edge, ustwo, BoldInc, and Saffron for the chance to come in and chat. And if anyone else in the community would like to share these insights in different locations, please just get in touch. I can take you through the presentation and its delivery, and you can go off on your own NNC roadshow.
5. The Pod. The podcast is back up for Season 3. Lots of great guests already recorded including Sean Hall, Mitch Wallis, the team behind Creative Confessions and many more. Please feedback and let me know what you think and if there are any other guests or topics you'd like us to approach. AND PLEASE SHARE IN YOUR CHANNELS, REVIEW ON ITUNES ETC. It would be greatly appreciated.
6. The Design Conference. Last year, Never Not Creative brought a host of panels and presentations to The Design Conference in an awesome collaboration that brought burnout, mental health and the future of our industry to the fore. The discussions were rich, personal and incredibly humbling and were going to be back in 2020 for more.
7. Healthy Profit. In an initiative with Streamtime, we've launched an event and webinar series called "Healthy Profit." The topic?
Can we run healthy businesses, with healthy profit and healthy people?
We held our first event in London in February, with accountants The Wow Company, wellbeing charity NABS, and agencies Ragged Edge and ustwo. Expect more of these to come in Australia, New Zealand (thanks to a partnership with Design Assembly) and back to the UK this year.
8. Props. Finally, a shout out to some amazing people who are (and / or have been) busy contributing behind the scenes... thank you soooooo much!!
