Never Assume the Obvious is True.

A new illustration project I worked on recently based on a quotes I found that really resonated with me right now. Whether it’s in your personal life or professional life, NEVER ASSUME THE OBVIOUS IS TRUE - William Safire.
With so much change going on around us, it’s easy to make assumptions. I hear the same ones often and am guilty of this myself - "I don't think that presentation went well" or "I'm not going to get that job because..." etc. And in reverse we make assumptions about other people, judging a book by it’s cover. How often have you got it wrong?
When I’ve partnered with brands to help with their positioning, building a visual identity or developing a new product, I’ve found a lot of assumptions live here too. Who the customer is, what the customer wants etc. Founders or clients are often so close to their product or offering, it can be difficult to be objective.
In order to grow, we must rethink our actions. What if we stopped assuming what we think we know and instead start asking more of the right questions and investing time to listen to the response. What if we waited to hear the words to be spoken before we write our own narrative. This is something I am practicing more in my own personal and professional life and there's never been a better time to see things differently. Be kind to yourself.
