Microscopy to Psychiatry – 4 min read

The heart and mind are important in the vision of survival for each living creature, without the heart oxygen from the lungs would not make it to the brain and the rest of the body would cease to operate resulting in death. I have spent years with some of the world’s best experts in these three disciplines.

This is the pathway that my career has taken regarding neurology, I began by working with one of the foremost experts in the field at UCLA as I began my career in microscopy. I must thank @Anthony Campagnoni for his patience and trusting me with the configuration of his microscope system used to look at the calcium signaling of living neurons and for introducing me to Myelin. From there I worked with many other prominent researchers studying the mechanisms of the brain. Seema Tawari-Woodruff helped me understand the application of electrophysiology including patch-clamping and stereology, specifically as it relates to multiple sclerosis. Joshua Trachtenberg taught me the importance of minimally invasive imaging when we built a 2-photon for other researchers that would come back into play when I worked with the Allen Brain Institute to build a new system based on high speed scanning used to also study how images are formed. I’ve worked with so many more from Universities, Biotechs and Pharmaceutical companies throughout the US, Brazil and Canada that I would like to thank personally but I let my colleagues enjoy the pleasure of experiencing working and learning from the world’s best while I made sure everything went smoothly coordinating between all levels of the companies that I worked for and all of their third party vendors. Stepping in only when necessary to get everyone over the hurdles and forming a personal relationship when needed.

From research to application I have personally worked with over 20 psychologists and psychiatrists to show how easy it is to confirm non-medical diagnosis. I have also studied the most eminently respected psychologists and philosophers throughout history as well as their diagnostic equivalents including the DSM, MMPI and DISC. On the surface it is simple to diagnose anyone as being on the spectrum of nearly any indication, especially mood disorders. Most of the time it does not matter except when it costs people jobs or promotions or causes them their life. I have worked to assist the people who run treatment facilities treating addiction and social workers trying to keep people with mental disorders from Asperger’s to Down Syndrome and Schizophrenia from seeing mental health professionals for fear of being institutionalized. I have also tried to intercede for families with their siblings and children with current and former addictions and personally know the damage that can leave in one’s life. I am currently in the process of validating diagnostic technology into diagnosis confirmations much like x-rays are used in identifying fractures. It has been known for some time now that left-right hemisphere activity is related to personality, the ability to quantify this should enable people to be placed on a more accurate spectrum assisting in innovation spurred by people understanding their true calling. This means that more than likely the diversity of therapeutics and natural techniques for treatment and enhancement will increase over the next few decades as can be seen by their prominence in the private equity sector. So don’t worry, you’re normal whether you have or haven’t tried: playing with kids or drinking too much alcohol, over-exertion or drugs.
