Neurological Complications Due to COVID-19 mRNA Vaccination

Neurological Complications Due to COVID-19 mRNA Vaccination

Even the most beneficial medical treatment causes some level of complications. In order to fully understand whether a treatment is worthwhile, all the potential benefits and all the known complications must be brought to light.?

Initially, in a 2022 report authored in the United States, scientists claimed the rate of neurological complications after COVID mRNA vax was exceedingly rare (three events in every ten-thousand recipients). However, subsequent articles refuted these initial findings. For instance, in 2023, Italian scientists described the likelihood of suffering a neurological complication after receiving an mRNA vax for coronavirus. They evaluated almost twenty-thousand people who’d been vaccinated. They reported that about three in ten people developed a neurological complication (mostly minor, such as headaches) after receiving the vax. In 2023, another team of researchers (this time from Thailand) reported that the neurological complication rate after the mRNA vax is less than the Italian report, but still orders of magnitude greater than the American. They reviewed the records of more than one-hundred-thousand people and determined a neurological complication (mostly minor) occurred in about one out of ten people.

In 2022, a multinational team of scientists compared the complication rate after mRNA vax for coronavirus with the complication rate after influenza (flu) vax. The researchers determined that the cardiac (heart) complication rate after mRNA vax was higher than after a flu vax and the neurological complication rate after mRNA vax was lower than after a flu vax.?

So, you’re probably asking, what are these neurological complications? Here’s what the science says:

Dementia

In 2024, Korean researchers discovered a possible link between mRNA COVID vaccines and Alzheimer’s Disease. The scientists evaluated the medical records of more than five-hundred-thousand residents of Seoul, who were older than sixty-five years. A significant increase in the incidence of Alzheimer’s Disease and Mild Cognitive Impairment (thinking difficulties) was seen in those who’d received mRNA vaccines.

Stroke

In 2022, Saudi Arabian doctors described complications related to COVID vaccines; specifically those which were likely to result in long term neurological problems. Their report centered on three major classes of issues. Firstly, the scientists described post-vaccination cerebral venous thrombosis (blood clots in the vessels of the brain) which were often accompanied by a significant incidence of stroke. Secondly, the doctors were confronted with post-vaccination Guillain-Barré Syndrome (a potentially progressive paralysis of the legs, arms, and diaphragm (breathing muscles)). Lastly, the researchers observed several patients who suffered post-vaccination Miller Fisher Syndrome (a disorder where the immune system attacks nerves which control movement of the face and eyes).

A 2023 publication described the MRI findings in patients who suffered neurological complications after receiving COVID-19 vaccines. The doctors, who cared for patients throughout Iran, reviewed almost 90 scientific studies and reported numerous deleterious imaging sequelae of vaccinations. The most commonly observed brain injury was related to minor or major strokes. The researchers also observed (sometimes severely destructive) inflammation (swelling) in widespread areas of the brain and spine. The association between brain inflammation and mRNA coronavirus vax was independently confirmed by a multinational research group in a 2024 report.

Seizures

In 2024, Italian scientists reported on several patients who developed seizures after receiving the mRNA vax. The seizures typically occurred within a week of receiving the vax.

Long COVID

A bunch of symptoms, which may persist many months or even years after an acute COVID infection has cleared, have been described in the medical literature with increasing frequency since the onset of the pandemic. This constellation of findings has been dubbed ‘Long COVID.’ Long COVID’s effects on the brain, in particular, has certainly been in the news and it’s also been popping up in the medical literature.?

So, what’s the relationship between mRNA coronavirus vaccine and Neurological Long COVID??

As of April 2023, a multinational team of Swiss and German scientists pointed out that, globally, there’d already been 760 million cases of confirmed COVID-19 and more than 13 billion doses of vaccine administered. These researchers acknowledged the existence of a significant number of people who’d been injected with an mRNA based vaccine and later developed a syndrome similar to Long COVID. The manuscript’s authors cautioned the medical establishment against poo-pooing this adversely affected portion of the population by lumping them with those derogatorily referred to as ‘anti-vaxxers.’?
