Neurodiversity: Quality of Life and Autistic Adults

Neurodiversity: Quality of Life and Autistic Adults

There have been a lot of studies done with autistic adults, and I have participated in a few that look for the similarities or correlations in being autistic and mental health. In my case, I certainly have written and spoken about it many times. I certainly had a lot of scars from childhood that deeply affected me into adulthood.

At the same time, I know that teachers, classroom assistants, my family, and everybody wanted what was best for me. But it left me feeling somehow broken and damaged. It certainly impacted my self-esteem. There is no doubt about the fact that I did grow up with somehow a feeling of resentment of my past and my childhood self. It is something that I needed to recover and move past.

The reason why I felt that way is because I simply was not accepted. So, with Neurodiversity Training International, we want a generation of autistic children who do not harbour scars that affect them into adulthood. What we want is a group of children who harbour passion and desire from their childhood to go out as adults and change the world.
