The G20 ended with ambitious plans to treble renewable energy capacity, but these latest goals were dampened by a watering down on commitments to reduce fossil fuels. The vision is encouraged by the International Energy Agency, with the final agreement outlining that at least $4 trillion a year will be needed by 2030.?

The US Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimond, has announced plans to award a $2 million grant to Converse County, Wyoming, to enhance the workforce training lab at the Eastern Wyoming College. She commented: “This EDA investment will provide new skills and retraining for workers in the building and construction industries as the region diversifies its economy.”

Our chosen charity?
The MIK Foundation is an orphanage based in Hoima town, Uganda. Housing 70 orphans with challenging backgrounds, the Foundation has plenty of local support but lacks crucial resources. Kickstarting our mission to help, we’ve supplied all the necessary school supplies for the new term and are in the midst of a clothes drive.?
We’re also collecting items for ‘Christmas Suitcases’ to provide personalised gifts for each child and will host further fundraising activities throughout the rest of the year. Keep your eyes peeled for updates!?

?Members of the WRS team are taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge later this month. We’ll be climbing Ingleborough, Whernside, and Pen-y-Ghent in under 12 hours – and we’re hoping the weather will be on our side!?

We attended the RE+ Conference 2023
John Gomez, Senior Recruitment Consultant, and Construction Vice President Curtis Stewart made their way to Las Vegas earlier this month for one of the world’s largest renewable energy networking events. The Re+ Conference was held across multiple sites in the city – hosting around 40,000 visitors over four days.?
This was a fantastic opportunity to meet with different businesses from the industry and learn more about the challenges they face.?

TIARA Talent Solution Awards
The WRS team attended the TIARA Talent Solution Awards to await the results of the ‘Best Talent Solutions Firm to Work For’. We didn’t win, but it was still great to be highly commended.?
The fact that we were recognised for the work we do internally with our people – training, incentives, and open forum – makes us incredibly proud. WRS works hard to make the whole team feel like they can be their best (and whole) selves in the workplace, wearing what they want to wear, sharing personal experiences, culture, and more to create a community of positive and like-minded people who exhibit the WRS DNA.
It was a lovely evening – the hosts were fantastic, and we connected with some wonderful people in the industry.
