The first impression you leave when meeting someone for the first time, whether for business or pleasure, leaves a lasting impact.
We all know you get one chance to make a great first impression. ?
I know there have been times (certainly in my corporate life) when I have met someone for the first time, and I’ve not been on my A game. I’ve been distracted or I’ve not done the right prep before, and I feel as though I’ve let myself down. [I can be pretty hard on myself]
I’m a big believer in when you meet someone for the first time you should give them your full attention and be only focused on them.
OMG so easy to say, but so tricky to do, when we are all being pulled in so many directions.
How would new connections describe their first impression of you? If you’ve not asked, it’s a great question to ask.
I asked my regular networking connections which 3 words they’d use to describe their first impression of me. The word that came up time and time again was ‘welcoming’, which has a definition of polite and friendly.
