What happens when you don't listen to your own advice?
You seize the opportunity.
In my '9 actions to take before attending a networking meeting' free download I talk about checking where you are meeting, parking and what time.
I didn't take my own advice last week but rather than get annoyed or upset I used the opportunity to connect with 21 businesses.
What happened??
I had offered to sub (that means sit in for another member that can't make a meeting) at a BNI Phoenix.?
I arrived at the location 10 mins early , at 6.20am.
I followed the well laid out signs to the meeting room but all the signs said BNI Unite.
I had a moment of 'oh s**t' I've turned up at the wrong venue, and now I am going to have to jump in the car and drive to the right venue. (If you know me well, I hate being late)
To my delight one of my own members from BNI Saxons- Maldon was in the room. After laughing at me (we are good friends) he told me that the meeting I had turned up for was at 9.30, in 3 hours time.?
So, I was just extra early
My options where;
1. Drive home - a 60 min round trip
2. Find a spot to do some work - I didn't have my laptop just my Remarkable to make lots of noted and lists.

3. Join the meeting as a guest
An easy decision to make.
I did what I love to do.
I networked with the members of BNI Unite.
I listened to 21 pitches from business owners.
I watched a great 10 minute presentation.
I connected 3 members with businesses that (after hearing their 60 second pitch) have good synergies.
I shared my business with 21 new connections, and had 3 great follow up conversations over breakfast.?
A fantastic way to spend a 'spare' 3 hours.
A shout out to Sonehal Kooner , Kemal Metin CeMAP & Jason McKenzie for you hospitality and having me as a guest at your meeting.
The highlight for me was meeting and listening to 21 great pitches. Even at 6.30am my brain kicks into action to think about good connections for each.?
Are you ready at each and every opportunity to share who you help, how you help them, what it is that you do and who you're looking to connect with??

Great tips Vicky Labinger and I'm so glad you chose option 3, otherwise we would never have connected!
