Networking Is Not Selling

Whenever people tell me that networking does not work, I tell them that it is their own fault. Although they blame the networking process, a little analysis soon identifies the mistakes they are making. One of the biggest, and most common, mistakes is that they think that networking is selling. Networking is NOT selling, instead it is part of your marketing, it is all about building brands and reputations.
If you attend a networking meeting with a sales mindset, you will simply annoy the other delegates and they will give you a wide berth. So, here are some tips to avoid being that nauseating sales person:-
·? Don’t go with the wrong mindset
·? Don’t ask leading questions
·? Don’t let folks think they are being sold to
·? Don’t pin people to the wall
·? Don’t monopolise conversations
·? Show an interest in other delegates
·? Seek to earn trust and build relationships
·? Ask for help – and not for an order
