Have you ever wondered why networking has such a bad reputation? People need people to be happy and successful in just about every endeavor. Why do so many balk at the idea of heading to an event organized explicitly with the intent of meeting other people?
If you’re making a mental list of all the negative aspects associated with networking events, I encourage you to pause. Instead, let’s shift our focus to the positive aspects of networking and consider why it is so important.
First of all, you have so much to share with others! Information, humor, stories, care, the list is seemingly endless. Sharing what you have for the benefit of others can be incredibly rewarding. And we all know that you should give before you can expect to receive.
Networking is a gateway to personal growth, and there is so much that we can learn from others! If we view networking as a platform where we can learn from others and gain insights that can propel us forward in our personal and professional lives. With today’s rapid pace of change and innovation, we must keep learning to keep up! Stand still for a moment, and you’ll need to sprint to catch up!
The beauty of networking lies in its unpredictability. You never know when you might meet someone who will serve a pivotal role in your life, and a brief handshake could lead to a life-changing connection. It could be a new job opportunity, a valuable introduction, a groundbreaking idea, or a fruitful collaboration. The possibilities are truly endless.

Beyond whom you may meet, you might be the one to introduce another person to someone who will serve a pivotal role in their life. And wouldn’t that be rewarding?
Positive momentum is just as potent as negative momentum. It simply carries us in a better direction.

11 个月It may sound so simple but It's incredibly rewarding when you worry about taking up too much of someone's time, and they then reassure you that they've also had a positive experience. Even better, when they replicate that continued interest and engage on multiple levels.

11 个月Love your encouragement on networking, Amy C. Horner, CPA, MBA 9?? . If we think of it as helping others and helping ourselves, everybody wins. And you and I have been schooled on getting to know someone before we ask for help. Otherwise, it is out of the blue and can be off-putting. Every situation is different, so live by the golden rule: know thy audience. ??
