Even if this is the case, I recommend you don't switch from a business building mindset to a selling mindset at the event. Ask if you can contact them and set an appointment to talk about your product. Set a date and time for you to contact them. Once you switch into selling mode, it can be difficult to get back into networking with this person (or others) at the event.

The person wanting to become a client will respect you more for setting this boundary, too, so that you can both continue to network and build relationships at the event.
