Networking and Professional Development at OTC 2023: A Volunteer's Perspective

As a volunteer representing IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society , I had the privilege of attending the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2023 held at NRG Park in Houston, Texas. My role was to conduct tours for students and introduce them to some of the industry leaders present at the event. It was a remarkable experience that opened doors for me to learn from some of the great minds in the industry.
During my time at OTC 2023, I had the opportunity to meet some amazing individuals from the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society, including President Christopher Whitt , Executive Vice President Brandy Armstrong , Treasurer Elizabeth Creed , AdCom members Farheen Fauziya (Women in Engineering Representatives), Chief Executive Officer at Subnero Manu Ignatius , and Amy Gibson IEEE member and Project Manager at Subnero and Amy Deeb . These meetings provided me with a wealth of knowledge and insights into the industry, and I'm grateful for the chance to have met such brilliant individuals.
In addition to these incredible industry leaders, I was also able to meet with some remarkable students who were eager to learn more about the offshore technology industry. It was inspiring to see their enthusiasm and passion for the work that we do, and it was a privilege to be able to share my knowledge and experience with them.
The Offshore Technology Conference is a unique event that provides a platform for sharing innovative ideas, networking with industry leaders, and showcasing new technology advancements. It is a hub of knowledge where attendees can discover new solutions, collaborate with industry experts, and learn from the best in the business. What makes OTC so special is the opportunity it provides for attendees to network with a diverse group of professionals, from engineers to executives, and to explore the latest trends and developments in the industry.
I highly recommend anyone interested in this field to attend the next OTC event. It is an excellent opportunity to meet industry experts, discover new innovations and technologies, and gain valuable insights into the latest trends and developments in the industry. My experience as an event volunteer at OTC 2023 was truly transformative, and I'm excited to see what the future holds for the offshore technology industry.
