And the good news is you can adopt this concept while still making networking a part of your overall strategy.?

5 Key Steps to Have a Successful Networking

When you’re out talking with people, you don’t just go there to mingle and make friends with them. You have this agenda to connect in order to grow your business. And that is totally fine. Every business does that. However, it’s not something that happens instantly.?

So, let’s delve into these 5 steps for doing successful networking.?

1. Pick Groups. First thing, decide what networking groups you want to attend. Never go for every networking group. Choose those groups that make sense for your business. Go to a group with strong potential for strategic alliances or referral relationships. Attend groups that have people who can consistently “refer me business”.

2. Identify Who Could Be a Good Strategic Partner. Identify the folks that have the highest potential to refer your business. Pick up two or three people you want to know better, talk to them, and make it productive.?

3. Ask your Potential Partner How You Can Help their Business. If you are the first person to offer them help, they are more likely to try to reciprocate your offer in some way. Ask them about what they do, and then ask how you can refer to their business and listen. Let them talk and listen to every detail. In return, they’ll tend to do the same for you to pay for your kindness.?

4. Be Prepared. Let’s say that your chosen partners consider helping you in return, the next thing you can do is to prepare with a 30-seconder elevator pitch. Be specific as possible. Provide information about the people you target and the services you offer.?

5. Suggest a Meeting. Do it if it makes sense to do so. If the person you are talking to has a strong referral relationship with, then they are a good candidate to have a meeting with.?
