You cannot solely depend on the brand of your firm to build relationships in the field. Of course it helps but it cannot the reason for making or not making friends.
Friendships built just on the basis of company brands remain shallow.
Go beyond this, make the effort and connect basis your personal strengths.
Read "How to win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie if you have to. The principles therein are effective even to this day and age.

Spot on post Krishna Gopal. I have been playing Golf since 2015 and developed new friends across all walks of life in bargain. None of them are from my field and purely based on love for sports.
