NETWORKING BEYOND BOOKS: THE POWER OF CO-CURRICULAR
As a fresher, stepping into college feels like entering a vast, uncharted world filled with potential. It’s easy to get lost in the flurry of new, unfamiliar faces, schedules, and expectations. But amid this chaos lies the true secret to thriving—building connections. Imagine your college journey as a canvas, and each person you meet as a stroke of colour that adds depth to the picture. Every interaction, whether with a wise elder or future colleague, enriches your journey, weaving into the intricate fabric of your life.
Networking in college isn't just about finding opportunities—it's about?creating?them.
In college, academics may lay the foundation, but it’s the co-curriculars that breathe life into the experience. They’re like hidden paths leading to unexpected places, shaping not only your personal growth but also your professional journey.
For me, it was through vibrant strokes at the “Artbeats” painting competition and the intricate dance of frames in landscape video editing that I truly understood the power of co-curricular—both as a canvas for creativity and a gateway to connection.
Take Artbeats, for instance. It wasn’t just a space to splash colours on a blank canvas—it was a gathering ground for kindred spirits. Fellow participants weren’t just competitors; they were future collaborators, each with their unique perspective. Conversations flowed as freely as the paint, and suddenly, a mere art competition became a melting pot of ideas.
Then came landscape video editing, an entirely different world where visuals replaced brushstrokes. Editing, typically a solitary task, became an unexpected means of connection. As we pieced together footage, we also pieced together ideas. As if every frame we edited also added a new layer to the network we were building—one that stretched far beyond the boundaries of the classroom.
The beauty of co-curricular activities is that they don’t feel like traditional networking events, which can sometimes feel stiff or forced. Instead, Bond over shared passions, create together, foster connection, meet diverse people from various backgrounds and expertise.
