Stupid marketing soundbite took advantage of my addiction
I'm watching late-night infomercials and I end up buying a magic mini-blender. Okay, I bought two of them. It was buy one, get the second one free. Stupid.
But why would a semi-intelligent marketer like me buy these blenders?
A single soundbite. A ten-second moment.
The voiceover said, "You can make cheesy jalapeno hot nacho sauce in only 10 seconds."
Done. I called the number and ordered.
I have an addiction to Mexican food, especially nachos. It only takes a single soundbite, a couple of words, and I will make an instant decision.
Just like our prospects!
Soundbites are magical. Here are examples:
Energy drink
Skincare
Utilities
Business opportunity
Dieting

Brain science tip
We like what is familiar.
We fear what is different.
Try to relate our products and opportunity to something that is familiar in our prospects’ lives. This is why analogies and metaphors work.
An example?
"Do you recommend things you like to others? Yeah, that's what we do."

How to plant prospecting seeds
While shopping, we chat with the sales clerk, “Getting by on one paycheck is impossible now. I am working on my plan. Hope you have a great plan."
The sales clerk thinks, "Hey, I don't have a plan. I need a plan. My paycheck doesn’t go far enough either.”
Our sales clerk responds, “That is interesting. Tell me about your plan?"
Easy. We are in conversation now.
Or the sales clerk might think, "I need to start planning." We planted the seed. Now we check with the sales clerk from time to time to see how that seed is growing.
Planting seeds means we will always have pre-sold prospects coming to us.
