Network Attached Storage Purpose-Built for Security and Productivity
Buffalo Americas
Buffalo is committed to producing high-quality, Japanese-made network storage solutions that are secure and affordable.
Cyberattacks have become more frequent and sophisticated, and data protection measures must keep up in order to remain effective in protecting your data. This is especially true when it comes to ransomware protection, as ransomware has proven to be quite an acute data security threat. A secure but flexible off-site backup server such as our TeraStation NAS can protect businesses of all sizes—especially small businesses—against data loss without complicating your environment or inflating your IT budget.
Buffalo has long worked with managed service providers and small businesses to make sure that our?network-attached storage (NAS)?solutions help budget-minded businesses achieve high-quality data protection and security without breaking the bank. Our TeraStation NAS solution is purpose-built to protect your data while ensuring maintaining or increasing productivity as a cost-effective file server.
Security and Backup Features to Protect Your Data
Cyberthreats such as ransomware are constantly evolving.?TeraStation NAS?are equipped with cutting-edge native data security features to keep your data safe from unauthorized access and threat actors.
Closed System to Prevent 3rd Party Apps?– One of the most significant highlights of the TeraStation is that it runs on a closed system, with not even the system administrator having root rights. Most competitors’ devices allow third-party apps to be installed, which is a possible vector for malware, spyware, and other viruses. The TeraStation prevents exposure to the vulnerabilities of third-party apps to secure your data.
Strong Drive Encryption?– The TeraStation offers the option to encrypt its drives with AES 256-bit strong encryption. Therefore, even when HDDs are taken out of the unit, they cannot be read on a PC or even on another TeraStation unit, ensuring that your data remains secure.
Native Boot Authentication?– The TeraStation 5010 can be configured so that when it boots, authentication is required through another server to complete the bootup process. If authentication is not present or recognized, the Terastation will not boot, preventing a stolen unit from being accessible under any circumstance.
Lock for Physical Security?– The TeraStation 5010 also features Kensington lock compatibility on both desktop and rackmount models to secure the device to a particular location. In addition, the desktop versions have lockable doors that prevent the disks from being taken out of the unit without the key.
Replication and Failover for Enhanced Redundancy?– Replication and failover are two options that can be enabled on your TeraStation to further secure your data. Replication (via Rsync with SSH) essentially copies your data from one TeraStation to another automatically, so if something happens with the first one, you can still easily access data on the second TeraStation. Failover is a feature where a second TeraStation is connected to the first; should the first TeraStation become inaccessible, the second TeraStation immediately takes over so there is no disruption to the network.
