Network Administrators | Part 1

A High-Level Breakdown of a Network Administrator’s Role on Your Internal, On-Site Team

In the first post of our series, we’re diving into the essential role of Network Administration within a corporate internal IT department. Network Administrators are the backbone of a company’s infrastructure, ensuring smooth and secure communication across all systems.

Now, let’s break this down into non-technical terms (because, if you’re like me and didn’t start in technology, it all sounds like a bunch of jibberish)—but don’t worry, your IT team speaks fluent "network," so they’ve got it covered!

Here’s a very simplified overview of their daily responsibilities (note: this doesn’t include the unplanned issues that always seem to pop up, like when someone forgets their password again):

?? Designing & Configuring Networks: Imagine building a super-highway for data to travel across different company locations without any roadblocks. That’s what they do—creating reliable, scalable networks to meet your needs.

?? Maintaining Network Performance: Think of them as network lifeguards, always keeping an eye on things to ensure everything’s running smoothly and efficiently.

?? Ensuring Secure Connectivity: They’re the digital bodyguards of your company, making sure everyone can access the network securely—whether they’re in the office or working from home in their pajamas.

?? Troubleshooting: When things go wrong (and they do—don’t pretend they don’t), your network admin is the person who jumps into action, diagnosing and fixing issues before you even know it was broken.

A skilled network admin keeps the digital backbone of your company running smoothly, ensuring connectivity and security. They’re like the unsung heroes of the tech world—always working behind the scenes to make sure everything just works.

Stay tuned for the next post where we’ll explore this role on the MSP side and how they work in perfect harmony when paired with your in-house team.

?? WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOUR COMPANY SYSTEM ADMINS REALIZE YOU ARE MAGA? OH, OH, I KNOW, I KNOW .... Really, I do know. ~ and companies and those who run them should really, really, really think twice about following Donald Trump ... ??of course, I would never condone nor ever help someone to do this if they DMed me. I mean if someone asked me, a master technologist how to take down their company who is destroying America, I would of course not help. In fact, if you were a System Administrator and you Direct Messaged me I would provide you a free detailed list of all of your tech stack vulnerabilities. So, you can protect against them ... of course ... https://lnkd.in/gmJsA2Gx
