Netherlands KPN launching 4Gbps symmetrical fiber internet this month

Dutch telco KPN is introducing 4Gbps symmetrical download/upload fibre broadband speeds to its residential customers on 23 October to claim the highest internet speeds in the Netherlands, citing rising demand. Robin Clements, EVP Consumer Market at KPN, announced: ‘The need for faster and more powerful internet is increasing and 1Gbps has now become the new standard … With the introduction of 4Gbps, we offer the fastest internet for the home and everyone can do their thing on any device with the same high internet speed. Handy if everyone in the house wants to be online at the same time. Whether you’re working from home, want to download your favourite game in no time or watch an entire season of your favourite series in a row.’

The new top speed will be available to customers within KPN’s expanding XGS-PON network footprint for a monthly fee of EUR67.50 (USD71.20), compared to the 1Gbps tariff of EUR52.50, while consumers and small business subscribers to the 4Gbps service receive a special Wi-Fi 6 ‘Box 14’ modem, which supports future speeds up to 10Gbps.
