Netflix vs. TikTok. The Ressa Tessa case

Netflix vs. TikTok. The Ressa Tessa case

Are you guys watching the 'Who TF did I married' series on TikTok?

That's what I asked my group of class. Just after sending that message I realized I was asking about that the same way I used to do about Game of Thrones a few years ago or with La Mesías a couple of months ago.

The most watched video on TikTok these days. The lenght of the videos, divided in 50 parts, is more than 7 hours. Shorter than the trilogy of The Godfather, less guns but so many plot twists you cannot stop watching.

The phenomenon itself is one of a kind: people are watching this on hair salons, proposals of characters for a potential series are coming and people are uploading videos summarizing the whole story so you do not need to watch it completely.

Why am I surprised? Cause it's a story whose narrative has a maximum of 5 minute, cause it's on TikTok –where I thought I could only see Scandinavian style houses– and cause it's just a lady in different points of her house, car, telling a story. No fanzy locations needed.

This arrives at a time when we think every format has been created, that drama has a lenght of 30-50 min and comedy 20-30 min.

We just needed a woman being honest and having crazy story telling skills.

Stories find their way.
