Everland (Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea) and Netflix are collaborating for this year's Blood City 8 Halloween event. Netflix's horror-theme zone will highlight popular series? "Stranger Things" and "All of Us Are Dead" with photo ops, scare actors, and interactive experiences. Everland has also renovated its popular Horror Maze attraction to be re-themed to "All of Us Are Dead."?“We aim to provide memorable experiences by combining Everland’s infrastructure and Netflix’s universe,” said an Everland official. “We will be able to lure not only local visitors but also foreign tourists.” Blood City 8 runs now through November 17th. A Jackson Wang haunted house, "Under the Castle,"?will be part of Halloween Horror Nights 2024 at Universal Studios Singapore?(Sentosa Island, Singapore). Jackson Wang is a pop artist and co-founder (along with Henry Cheung) of TEAM WANG design, a luxury streetwear brand. The haunt will feature two characters from TEAM WANG's Sparkles line: Pumpkie and Spookie.?As guests venture into the “Under the Castle” haunted house, they will uncover the sinister secrets of the cursed castle, which lures its victims with a ghostly green glow each year on Halloween night. Guests brave enough to face the evil within will find out if they can escape the terror or be trapped “Under the Castle” forever. TEAM WANG put together a concept space and carnival under the same name in 2023. HHN Singapore takes place 18 select nights September 27th - November 2nd. Tickets are on sale now.

Six Flags Fright Fest Extreme at Six Flags Magic Mountain (Valencia, CA)? suffered challenges during its opening this past weekend, with guests reporting that some of the scheduled mazes opened late or not at all. A new Disney Villains show is set to open at Walt Disney World's?Hollywood Studios park (Orlando, FL) in the summer of 2025.?The creative minds at Disney Live Entertainment will transform Sunset Showcase into the mysterious, reflective realm of the Magic Mirror.?The show will feature appearances by dozens of the Disney villains - including?Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent - each breaking through the glass to take the stage for live production numbers. The exact opening date has not yet been announced. The current show in the Sunset Showcase, Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy, will run until October 7th, 2024, after which it will close to make way for the new villainous production.
Blackpool Pleasure Beach (Blackpool, UK) has announced two new scare zones, two revamped scare zones, and triple the rides for their 2024 Journey to Hell: Freak Nights event.?Thrillseekers are invited to challenge their worst fears this October and face the gruesome undead, sinister clowns, ghostly apparitions, and more. New for 2024 is the "Down the Rabbit Hole" scare zone - taking place within the park's beloved Alice in Wonderland ride - and the macabre oddities-themed "Cabinet of Curiosities" scare zone. In a recent interview,?Amanda Thompson OBE, CEO of Pleasure Beach Resort, said, "This year, Journey to Hell is bigger and more frightening than ever with two brand new scare zones. After the success of our zone inside the Ghost Train last year, we’ve turned another fan-favorite ride into a terrifying live action area and it promises to be one of our creepiest yet...?We know our rides help us stand out from other scare events, so we’ve tripled the rides available and added ride theming for a more immersive experience. Even the rides that aren’t classed as one of our scare zones will have roaming actors and entertainment to create a truly terrifying night." A new "Spooky Streets" grant program in Boston, MA, will?give ghoul-loving Bostonians a $250 boost for their Halloween block party. The new city grants will help residents host Halloween block parties between October 25th and November 3rd - providing $250 for hosts to buy party supplies such as candy, pumpkins, decorations, and face paint.?“Spooky Streets are a fantastic way to bring neighbors together, build a stronger sense of community, and enjoy the Halloween and Harvest season,” city officials said on the grant’s official website. Eligible festivities must be free, open to the public, and held on the applicant's street. The grant application deadline is September 20th at 5:00 p.m. EDT. Organizers of the Douglas Halloween Parade for Adults (Douglas, MI)?want?to raise an additional $18,000 to fund this year's event. For the past 25 years, the event has been tax-payer subsidized, however as it has grown, the city can no longer cover all the expenses. The event cost $52,000 in 2023 and is expected to cost close to $80,000 in 2024. This year, over $18,000 in expenses have been passed along to the non-profit (Hystopolis Productions) to ensure the event can safely occur. The event brings over 10,000 people to Douglas, where they support local businesses and restaurants.?“This event serves as a bridge to get our area businesses through the shoulder season, and that’s how we talk them into being a sponsor,” said Erin Wilkinson, director of events for Hystopolis. “There is a limit to how much we can ask [however], and we’re near it, especially with so many other events competing for funds." A Go-Fund-Me has been created to seek donations from community members who want to continue this beloved tradition. As of September 9th, the fund has raised over $2,500 from 38 donations. Ames Haunted Forest (Ames, IA) has made the difficult decision to close after 25 years of operation.?"It's so labor intensive for us," said co-owner Lynn Ballard. "I'm 72, and my brother's getting up there." Lynn and his brother have helped to run the event since their father began it in 1999, with other family members pitching in over the years. With the demands increasing each year, the family has decided to close the attraction. They plan to use the space from the former haunt to expand their parking lot near Jack Trice Stadium, adding 300-400 new spaces to the lot. Lynn and his family are grateful for all the community support they have received over the years.
Niles Scream Park (Niles, MI) is open for its 51st season?on select dates now through November 2nd. The event offers?44 acres of fear with six haunted houses, four 5-minute escape rooms, and a midway filled with entertainment, axe throwing, paintball, a Hall of Fear museum, photo ops, food, and more. The largest of their haunts features over 100 different paths - making it impossible to see it all in fewer than seven trips through.?The Niles Scream Park is a non-profit community project with nearly 200 volunteer staff members per night from more than 65 Michiana area community and school organizations. Since 1996, the event has donated more than $2.5 million to area organizations, and it funds college scholarships for local high school students. Mall of American (Bloomington, MN) welcomes back American Monsters' Onionhead’s Revenge haunted house from September 27th - November 2nd. City officials have halted the construction of a popular pirate-themed home haunt display in Ortilla, Ontario (Canada). For the past four years, Natalie McGregor and her family have constructed a life-size pirate ship with fog-blowing cannons, skeletons, and other Halloween decorations for Halloween night. In 2023, the family gave out more than 500 treat bags to trick-or-treaters, and this year, they intended to use the display for a food drive for The Sharing Place Food Centre. In mid-August, however,?bylaw, building inspection, and building division officials contacted the McGregors and told them to halt construction.?"We were provided with some parameters to work within, and we made changes," said Natalie. "Then they came back again and said it needs to come down."?Melissa Gowanlock, the city's manager of communications said that?bylaw officers investigated the?structure after receiving numerous complaints.?"The structure in question is not a typical Halloween decoration, but rather a large built structure that must comply with the city's zoning bylaws and the provincial Building Code." She advises any home haunter, "if you are erecting a structure, whether permanent or temporary, it's always a good idea to check with the city to ensure it meets necessary requirements." The McGregors have started an online petition?asking for a temporary exemption for the pirate ship. As of September 9th, over 1,880 signatures have been collected.
After selling out in 2023, Ghost of Glamis?(Angus, Scotland) is returning for 2024. In a 650-year-old castle, brave visitors will embark on a spooky indoor tour to hear eerie stories?of the spirits that are said to haunt the castle’s majestic rooms - like the infamous "Grey Lady." Be ready for jump scares and possible ghost sightings. Adults-only tours will take place October 25th - 31st. New for 2024 are child-friendly storytelling sessions on October 26th & 27th, designed for guests under 14. These sessions will feature a 30-minute ghost tour of the castle, filled with ghostly tales rather than jumps and scares.
