The Netflix breach and supply chain risk
Renee Murphy at Forrester has an interesting take on the Netflix hack and why it was good that Netflix did not pay a ransom for the stolen copy of Season 5 of "Orange is the New Black." Note also that, like the Target breach of 2013, it was a vulnerability elsewhere in the "supply chain" (in this case, a firm doing audio post-production) that was attacked. Securing content via DRM has always been a big concern in Hollywood, but the Netflix incident highlights the growing issue media companies will have in securing the entire digital media workflow.
