.NET Framework - What's New - 4.7

This is just a general information about the .NET Framework 4.7 and does not provide comprehensive information about .NET Framework 4.7 and its new feature as they are subject to change. 

Introduction to the .NET Framework 4.7

The .NET Framework 4.7 is an upgraded form of .NET Framework 4.6, 4.6.1, and 4.6.2 with several new features and new fixes added to it. Recently on 5 April 2017, the .NET Framework 4.7 was integrated with Windows 10 Creators Update. An update for Visual Studio 2017 was released to add support for targeting .NET Framework 4.7. The standalone installers for other Windows version was released on 2 May 2017. 

The .NET Framework 4.7 has been improved in several areas. A few new features in .NET Framework 4.7 are as follow;

1. Enhanced cryptography support

2. Improved Transport Layer Security (TLS) support, particularly for version 1.2

3. Support for High-DPI awareness support in Windows Forms

4. More support touch and stylus in Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF)

5. New print APIs for WPF

You can choose either of the two steps to get started with .NET Framework 4.7

i. Upgrade to Windows 10 Creators Update, or 

ii. Install the .NET Framework and thereafter try to install the update to Visual Studio 2017.

The .NET Framework 4.7 provides many services. The new set of APIs that abstract the lower-level Windows operating system allow developers to replace the default ASP.NET implementations if they are not adequate. Also user can replce the following three components:

i. Object Cache Store

ii. Memory monitoring

iii. Memory Limit Reactions

Also the services include memory management, type and memory safety, security functionality, networking and application deployment. The .NET Framework 4.7 provides easy-to-use data structures and can be used with a variety of programming languages, including C#, F# and Visual Basic.
