Attention parents, you know last year – and the year before that, when you contacted your employer and asked for your wage slip to be paid directly to Walt Disney because Frozen? Well, no need to request a new direct debit mandate, because bankruptcy is now one step closer – on Thursday 12th May, Disney officially confirmed that Frozen 2 is in pre-production. Apparently the producers need bigger wallets for all their 50’s, and their diamond shoes are a little tight. Already feeling the pinch? These hilarious responses to the announcement might make sleeping in the gutter a little easier to bare.
You know how sometimes it feels like Facebook knows everything about you? Like Mark Zuckerberg should change his name to Big Brother, and that the Facebook newsfeed should actually be known as Airstrip One? Well now they know even more about you, after partnering up with DataSift, on March 10th Facebook announced the introduction of Topic Data to give marketers more actionable data insights. Topic Data will show marketers what audiences are saying on Facebook about events, brands, subjects and activities – but user information will still be kept private. For example – seen a dip in Egypt bookings? Topic Data will tell you what your audience are saying about civil unrest in Cairo. Topic Data will also help measure brand sentiment.
Twitter is launching a bold experiment in attempt to change the landscape of ‘second screen’ viewing. TV Timelines will be the equivalent of Tweetdeck for TV – the interface will have 3 columns featuring highlights, media and all content relating to a particular show, identified via a hashtag associated with the TV show, allowing users to not only track a conversation, but also have their viewing experience enriched by content related to the show. It allows users to take a deep dive into conversations about TV shows – and brands the opportunity to target specific audiences. Twitter is conducting its first roll out of TV timelines as an experiment, using a small handful of TV shows such as American Idol, Big Bang Theory and The Blacklist, and is yet to publicly comment on the new feature, which has been seen as its most aggressive attempt to date to manage conversation topics.
