Nepal EMS system established as a result of WEM Conference

Here at WEM we have always been strong believers in the 'good ripple effect'. In a world increasingly subject to political change and negative news we have followed a policy of inclusiveness and sharing and the medical impact is being felt far and wide.

Winner of the prestigious 'David Weil Extreme Medicine Award 2014' Dr Sanjaya Karki writes

'after the award in 2014 I became more and more enthusiastic in terms of developing the hospital based HEMS and EMS system in Nepal and finally established the Department of Pre Hospital Care /EMS in Grande International Hospital for the first time in Nepal'..

Dr Sanjaya Karki has been awarded the EMS10: Innovators in EMS 2016 Award for his drive and innovation.

David Weil comments

'Its exactly the outcomes highlighted by Dr Karki' innovative work that the bursary was originally established for and I am so proud that we have played a small part in the development of medicine in Nepal'

The WEM Conference continues to lead the way in remote medical care in extreme locations and this years gathering promises to deliver amazing content, networking and practical workshops.
