Neonatal EBP Resources
This month, JBI features the Neonatal specialty field in the JBI EBP Database and highlights free access resources relating to newborn babies in their first month of life.
The Neonatal field in the JBI EBP Database provides high quality, relevant, up-to-date evidence-based information and recommendations for use by healthcare professionals working in the neonatal field. Evidence-Based Healthcare is a growing area within neonatal care, with awareness continuously increasing.
The JBI EBP Database Neonatal field covers a variety of neonatal topics, such as supporting breastfeeding/milk expression, supplementary oxygen, as well as a range of common conditions affecting neonates, like bronchopulmonary dysplasia and apnea.
For families with a preterm neonate in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), the experience can be overwhelming and unfamiliar. Many parents feel uncertain about their ability to care for their new baby once they leave the hospital, when they no longer have the support of medical staff and technology.?
We highlight free access JBI Evidence Summary, which explores strategies for healthcare professionals to help families in NICU who are preparing to head home from the hospital with their preterm neonate.
Another free access resource available for download is the JBI Recommended Practice from the neonatal field, which provides guidance on formula feeding, with step-by-step instructions for cleaning and sterilising feeding equipment such as bottles and teats, for use in paediatric populations including neonates and infants.
?The JBI EBP Database offers 140+ evidence-based resources related to the neonatal field, including 116 Evidence Summaries and 28 Recommended Practices.
