Neil Laybourn Consultancy is Here. (NLC)

Next week I’ll be officially launching NLC – Neil Laybourn Consultancy.

Emails going out to my contacts, exciting conversations will begin, and new chapter will ensue.

The vision is clear.

Any person in any workplace has full permission to openly explore their mental health without prejudice, discrimination or stigma.

Furthermore, every employee has the appropriate level playing field, providing access to resources in order to achieve their optimal wellbeing.?

It’s clear for a very distinct reason, i took time out. A lot of time out.?

A lot of the most impactful and life altering career decisions I have made came after a reset.

The decision to become a personal trainer at the age of 24 after a 2-week holiday to Tenerife – I had a great run at that career!

After my 2-week honeymoon driving around France at the age of 31, I returned to resume a life changing career in mental health and wellbeing advocacy – it was so the right decision!

Or put all my eggs in one basket and launch a mental health events company at the age of 35 with nothing but doodle on the back of napkin after a week away in Greece. – That company is still running today and making a huge impact to people.

Now, in my 40th?Year, I feel I have had the longest break yet, much time spent away from any work projects of my own creation – I’m now happy to be posting about a totally new chapter.

In just a couple of years my family has grown, I built and settled into a new home, I turned 40 and, in all honesty, I wanted to be a full time father to my 3 children for a period in my life.?

So, I took a couple of years in the slow lane – It was the 100% right decision as now I’m able to write this post enthusiastically because of that.

It’s often cited on many a company policy that if you feel you need to, just take a break. How often is that possible or accepted I wonder. How many of the wellbeing polices are working and enabling people to fulfil their own purpose.

This brings me on the mission of NLC;

To utilise our years of unrivalled insights in your wellbeing strategy design.?

To provide the shortest route from distress to positive mental health to your employees using best-in-class services.?

To show measurable ROI to you and your workforce on their mental health and wellbeing.?

I know my area, I know the conversations where I can make impact, I’m confident in what I know and can prescribe for an ailment within a work culture that stifles one’s own performance and self-value.

I’m also acutely aware of the experiences I have never had, the prejudices I can only experience through other’s stories and the elements I’m yet to learn in life but which I will need to learn in order to grow and create further impact.

As I move onto this new chapter and try my best to make an impact with my career in mental health and wellbeing, I’m compelled to achieve this with those I have met and collaborated with for now a decade in this arena – start a career family of my own to take into any work environment that needs a nudge in the right direction.

NLC is the vehicle for this mission.

I hope if you have got this far in reading my post, you will reach out in willingness to collaborate in doing so.?

If you are reading this and have responsibility for the mental health and wellbeing in your place of work or contribute to that area – have a conversation with me, I’m confident I will provide something that can make an impact for your vision.

Thank you for reading.

Wouldn't it be a requirement for such a practice to have someone with psychological qualifications running it?
