If neighbours had opened their door or dialled 000 Lisa Harnum would be alive today. Responsibility for Domestic Violence lies with us all

The Lisa Harnum Foundation is close to my heart. Her fate was nearly my own. A woman whose joy in life was subsumed and crushed by a controlling misogynist whose ego was so fragile and highly strung and indulged that he needed to murder her rather than let her leave It is a tragic story and only one year ago.

I am now the Ambassador for the Foundation based in Sydney and Canada

We are holding a fundraising dinner on June 4 at Castle Hill RSL - gorgeous night and for a beautiful cause: we are raising funds for the women's refuge and to help and empower women fleeing violence.

Tickets to attend are $120 and we are looking at tables of 10. I'm an eastern suburbs girl and I'm going of course, so we can arrange transport. I invite you.

Please let me know if you can help arrange a table or single seats or a donation. Just send me a message

If someone had called 000 or opened their door, Lisa would be alive. It only takes a small gesture to make a difference and the burden of responsibility lies with every single one of us DV is an issue for us all.

June 4. $120

All proceeds from the Inaugural Lisa Harnum Foundation Fundraising Dinner will go directly to employing a much needed full-time caseworker.  This caseworker will provide full-time professional support to women and their children who have experienced some form of abuse.  The Lisa Harnum Foundation commits to journeying with them to a place of long term freedom from domestic abuse.

I have dialled for police to attend what sounded like a DV situation next door. very scary and confronting but was the right thing to do. Evil prospers when good men do nothing....

Thank you for sharing the information. Domestic violence accounts for the death of about 2 people per week in Australia (includes children) One of my main policies - domestic violence & child abuse. If terrorism was casusing such horrific violence in Australia - it would be receiving greater attention at every level of prevention and law enforcement. Relationship break down is the most dangerous time for violence. I will continue to advocate for the enforcement of all orders across Australia as well as a 72 hour minimum detention protocols for arrested offenders. Protocols will include the person arrested will need to be assessed mentally and psychologically before release. Additionally, all victims have access to sick leave and Critical Stress Debriefing a process which will retard PTSD. This process of detention will allow a more orderly withdrawal from the home. Fleeing in the middle of the night to seek safe refuge would not be essential. To all domestic violence organisation groups you would have a strong advocate in the Senate as well as someone who has intervened as a police officer in the most savage and brutal levels of domestic violence.. and experienced witnessing physicsl and psychological trauma of victims.
