Neighborhood Spotlight: Cameron Wood
Cameron Wood is a beautiful neighborhood found between Gleneagles Road and Pineville-Matthews Road and Park and Carmel Road with its’ three entrances off Park Road. Many people may not know, but Cameron Wood has an interesting history. It was first owned by the Belk family and was used as a hunting preserve when it was considered for the location of a large shopping mall. It was later determined that it was too far from center city for a mall and the Harris family acquired the property; the Belk family went on to obtain the land that became the site for Southpark Mall. Cameron Harris (for which Cameron Wood is named after) eventually sold the land to a developer and the first home was completed by Mulvaney Homes in 1986. Ten years later, the remaining home sites were sold to David Weekly Homes who completed construction in 2002.
The neighborhood is now home to 804 residences over 386 acres of land and was the largest planned community in Charlotte until Highland Creek was built. Cameron Wood is divided into 5 different villages, Deer Brooke, Stone Croft, Wing Field, Park Springs and Glen Laurel. When driving through any of the villages and down the main road, the tree lined streets and accompanying sidewalks is a welcoming site. There is a 1 acre pond in the neighborhood which was made by a farmer who once lived on the land to provide water for horses and cattle and now serves as a beautiful centerpiece with a fishing dock and beautiful bridge.
Cameron Wood is run by a very active and respected Homeowners Association. The neighborhood hosts many events throughout to the year and also gives back to the Charlotte community through various donation drives or events. The majority of homes are 2-story but there are some single story ranch style homes as well. There are also many different floor plans and elevations, all of which are meticulously maintained for beautiful curb appeal throughout the community.
Over the last year, home prices have averaged just under $300,000 and have ranged from the low-mid $200s to the low-mid $400s. If you or someone you know are interested in this neighborhood, give me a call!
