In the neighborhood. A few favorite shops, stores, boutiques and doctors we regularly frequent.

If I were relocating

to a new town I know I would want to know the best basics for shops, restaurants, grocery stores, boutiques, doctors, dentist, pet vet, and other services. *The following are just the businesses we frequent, of course there are many others.

Montclair Vet Hospital located in the Montclair Village

Boutique Markets:

• Village Market, Broadway Terrace in Upper Rockridge. A small, local grocery store for excellent food items and wine rather than big box shopping. If you like to get in and get out, this is the spot.
• Diablo Foods, Lafayette - through the Caldecott Tunnel from the East Bay but well worth it. It's a grocery boutique with the best meats, gourmet packaged foods and everything for a party from fine wine and assorted cheeses to gifts and floral arrangements.
• Market Hall, on College Avenue in Oakland -- small shops under one roof including a pasta shop, cheese shop, bakery, coffee, sweets, wine shop, fish, meat, produce and flowers.

Urgent Care Center's are so easy to get into, and I have been so well cared for at these clinics from Oakland to Orange County that my primary care doctor is now Orinda Urgent Care. Not only was it difficult to get an appointment with my original primary care doctor but he was located in San Francisco which wasn't always easy to get to with traffic and parking. When he retired it didn't seem necessary to continue with his replacement who didn't know my history. Since I was starting over and Orinda is so close to my house it just made sense.
