The Negative Space

The Negative Space

(look at the gaps between)

It’s never the question, it’s always the answer. It’s never about the advertising, it’s the response. It’s never about the joke it’s the laugh.

In photography and art, the negative space is around and between the subjects of an image. Negative space is interesting when it becomes the real subject of the image because of an interesting shape formed by it.

I am a passionate amateur photographer and I particularly like taking macro images close up of plants, rocks, and even old machinery and objects.

In recent times, I’ve come to the conclusion we often focus on the wrong thing in our communications and marketing – whether it be by social media, advertising or some other channel.

We’re focused on what we look like, what our brochure looks like, what we have to say.

But it isn’t about that – it’s about what our customers and stakeholders think when they receive that communication, what impression it leaves them with, what action they take.

It’s about the negative space between the communication, and what we can learn from that.

Think about it.

And enjoy your day.
