The Negative Feelings
You’re thinking too much about the what-if’s and not enough about what you can be doing now.
Those thoughts in your head are not going to change anything. Action will.
Sometimes I’ll be sitting at work thinking about the rest of my day. Who I’m gonna see, where I’m gonna be and how it’s all gonna turn out. I’ll also be thinking about what work is gonna look like in a few years from now. And most often I’ll think about the day I walk in to take my test.
All of those thoughts cause anxiety for me. They cause this negative feeling because right now, I can’t control it. All I can do is wonder. That’s a recipe for disastrous thoughts.
I start to wonder, is this person gonna do this? Is that place going to be how I expect it to be? Am I going to be able to bring in more clients when I’m licensed? Will the test go bad again? Yes, none of this is easy to just throw out of my head. But nothing is going to change by constantly thinking about it.
So, I decided to do this: before any of those future thoughts come into my head, I have a plan. I scheduled out exactly what I want to be studying or working on in that moment. That way, I don’t think about those negative thoughts that have a slight possibility of becoming reality. I just focus on the computer and papers in front of me.
Do this for me: holding back those negative thoughts will come by taking action now. Health, fitness, business. Keep going.
