Reducing operational costs is a big challenge for companies in today's fast-paced and ever-changing business world. Unfortunately, some companies replace skilled and experienced employees with new hires who will work for a lower salary. This approach is concerning and shows a lack of empathy, compassion, and basic human decency.

The real question is whether companies need to remember the value of loyalty and experience, which are their foundations. These essential qualities are being overlooked, resulting in losing valuable talent and disrupting lives.

Let's take the story of Rashmita, for example, who was a dedicated employee for seven years. She had seen her company grow from a small startup to a thriving enterprise through her unwavering commitment and hard work. She actively contributed to its transformation. Unfortunately, when a new manager took over the company, Rashmita's life took an unexpected turn. She was at a critical juncture in her personal life, being pregnant. Still, instead of receiving support and recognition for her immense contributions, she was subjected to undue pressure and unjust scrutiny.

Sadly, Rashmita's situation is not unique. Countless employees within the corporate world face similar fates daily. Loyal staff members who have invested years of their lives in helping a company achieve its goals often find themselves in a vulnerable position, with their dedication overlooked and their futures uncertain. Rashmita's new manager failed to appreciate her experience and commitment, instead emphasizing cost-cutting measures over employee well-being.

This raises several crucial questions that every company, regardless of location or size, should consider:

  • What happened to value experience? Companies should remember that their success today is often the result of the dedication and loyalty of long-serving employees. Discarding these seasoned professionals without valid reasons undermines the very foundation upon which they were built.
  • Is cost-cutting at any cost justified? While operational costs are critical in business sustainability, they should not come at the expense of an employee's livelihood, dignity, or well-being.
  • Where is empathy in the business world? Creating a workplace culture that fosters kindness, compassion, and understanding is essential. Employees, particularly those who have given their best years to a company, deserve respect, recognition, and support.
  • How can companies ensure competent management? Incompetent leadership can wreak havoc within an organization, leading to the mistreatment of employees like Rashmita. Companies must invest in training, selecting managers, and prioritizing performance and people.



Remember that behind the balance sheets and profit margins are real people, each with hopes, dreams, and struggles. It's time for companies to reevaluate their priorities, acknowledging the immense value of dedicated, experienced employees like Rashmita and treating them with the empathy and respect they deserve. After all, a company that loses its humanity risks losing more than just its financial stability; it risks losing its soul.
