Neeraj Chopra Wins Silver, Leads India to Historic Medal Haul at Paris Olympics

Javelin ace Neeraj Chopra won India’s first silver medal at the Paris Olympics on Thursday, according to Sportstar. With a season-best throw of 89.45 meters, defending champion Chopra finished behind Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, who set an Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 meters. India now has five medals at Paris 2024, all previously being bronze.
Earlier on Thursday, the Indian men’s hockey team secured bronze. Manu Bhaker made history by becoming the first Indian athlete to win multiple medals at the same Olympics post-Independence, earning two bronze medals in shooting. Swapnil Kusale’s bronze was also a milestone, marking India’s first medal in the 50-meter rifle 3P event at the Olympics.
