What’s the top leadership quality every leader should possess?

I was recently invited to participate in a Leadership Panel, and had fun noodling on this question:
What are 3 important qualities that you believe every leader should aspire to possess?
PLEASE COMMENT BELOW TO SHARE YOUR PERSPECTIVE ON THE MOST IMPORTANT LEADERSHIP ATTRIBUTE – & YOUR RATIONALE FOR THAT CHOICE. Thanks!
Here’s what I said on the panel.
1.???A LEADER’S MINDSET – The recognition that being a leader is a privilege, a responsibility, and an ongoing practice. It’s a skill that can be learned if you choose to invest your time and energy accordingly.
2.???INTERPERSONAL SKILLS – There are those that try to get ahead by stepping on other people’s heads. And there are those who ascend because they’re being carried on shoulders. Having worked with both types, I definitely feel more inspired to give my all by the latter.
3.???MANAGERIAL COURAGE – It’s important to be brave and speak up when you see something (or someone) that could be (even) better. And HOW that gets communicated is important (getting back to point 2). You get more with honey than you do with vinegar.
I welcome YOUR perspective too. Thanks in advance for your wisdom.

1 年Michelle Braun Great question! It's hard to pick a single one, but something I keep coming back to is leaders who set clear expectations tend to have happier teams who perform well vs those who set unclear expectations.
