The need for safe spaces for open conversations on issues concerning young people.
It has been a great week, full of impact, engagement and many discoveries. We conducted WAY dialogues which aim at raising awareness on Sexual gender based cases in the different communities in West Nile.?
One of these was in Oluko sub county, Arua district which focused on family planning and was facilitated by our peer educators and supported by the area VHT.
During the dialogue, a lady by the names of Chandiru Beatrice mentioned that one of the challenges young people faced in accessing contraception from the facility are the nurses who are judgmental. A case in point was a time she went for an implant and the next day her parents were already informed by the health worker and was forced to remove it.?
There is therefore a need for more trainings for facility workers so that they understand the rights of?young people and their SRHR?which will enable them have safe spaces for open conversations on issues concerning them.
